The team analyzes environmental performance by studying carbon emissions, energy usage, climate targets, sustainability initiatives, and other ESG metrics using company reports, sustainability disclosures, annual reports, regulatory filings, news sources, and other public information.
As a Climate Data Analyst, you will contribute to MSCI’s mission by combining climate expertise, data analysis, AI-driven automation, and quality assurance to build accurate and scalable climate datasets.
Job Responsibilities
Climate Data Research
- Research climate-related information from annual reports, sustainability reports, company websites, regulatory filings, and other trusted sources.
- Collect and process climate metrics including:
- Carbon emissions
- Energy performance
- Climate commitments
- Sector-specific sustainability indicators
- Support industry-specific climate research and data integration projects.
- Maintain and improve research methodologies and assessment guides.
Data Quality & Validation
- Review and verify climate data received from companies and external vendors.
- Ensure high-quality and accurate datasets through regular quality checks.
- Resolve data inconsistencies and respond to internal and external queries.
- Develop automated validation processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
AI & Process Automation
- Utilize approved AI tools to improve data collection and quality control.
- Support automated anomaly detection and workflow optimization.
- Validate AI-generated outputs while maintaining analyst oversight.
- Assist in implementing responsible AI solutions for faster and more accurate climate data processing.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with global research teams, technology teams, and external vendors.
- Explain methodologies and climate data standards to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation and provide training when required.
- Support projects related to carbon footprint analysis and climate risk assessment.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to simplify and automate routine tasks.
- Participate in business projects aimed at expanding climate data coverage.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Finance
- Statistics
- Sustainability
- Environmental Science
- Oil & Gas Engineering
- Power Management

- Related disciplines
Experience
- Freshers may apply where eligible.
- Candidates with 1–3 years of experience in any of the following areas will have an added advantage:
